"It’s been a long time coming but today is the day that Canfield is finally fully releasing the Balance. We first saw this bike back at Sea Otter where Lance Canfield had a preproduction version of the frame. The Balance isn’t a new model for Canfield, with the original released in 2006. That bike had quite a cult following with people naming it a mini DH bike because of the way it rode. For the new model the Canfield Bros went and tweaked the bike to suit more all mountain use with 27.5″ wheels, while still having the option to get properly rowdy on it like the original." by nsmb.com
Here at Mad elk cycles the first mountain bike specialists, we know, many people think Oval rings are "wired". So just look what some of you think after their first ride!
"I received my beautiful Absolute Black oval XX1 style chainring. I mounted it up, spun the cranks and thought to myself "this is going to be weird", but I jumped on the bike and it did not feel weird at all. In fact, it felt just the opposite. My pedal stroke felt more natural and the cranks felt easier to turn. What was great was that moving from a standard 30t, my low gear felt lower, and my high gear felt higher. It felt like my gear range expanded.
Super happy, can't wait to log more miles.
For those who worry about clutch mechanism in rear mech:
Oval ring does not affect the work of rear dérailleur cage at all. Such a ring can be used therefore in 1x9/10/11 combination as well as Singlespeed and fixie bikes!
Greetings from Ireland my friends! Canfield Balance, a “mini” DH bike, jump bike, park bike and generally a do-it-all in the bike world. While the terrain out here doesn't technically “need” a 160 mm full sus. rig to enjoy the trails, why wouldn't you have one? Today was the first day out on the silver bullet and here is what I thought of her.
The bike just blew me away. the suspension makes it ultimate mini dh platform. It is so snappy in corners even with 27.5. When Jumping, it feels like there is no end of travel. When it came to rooty sections the bike was just clearing it without noticing the harsh. Getting to the top of hill was just the matter of just saddle up, flick the climb switch and of you go. It felt very stable for full suspension bike.
